The Role of Relative Ability and Level of Difficulty of Objectives in Leadership Task Delegation Decisions

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether Relative Ability and Target Difficulty have
an impact on managers' decisions to assign tasks to employees because assigning tasks and
responsibilities to subordinates is a crucial part of a leadership job. Using a Google Form
questionnaire as a research instrument, the researchers collected data using the Pilot Test
technique, which is used to test the validity and reliability of the research instrument. In this
case, the researchers used 120 students from the S1 Accounting study program at the 2022
Faculty of Economics and Business, Surabaya State University, as respondents. The findings
indicated that Relative Ability and Target Difficulty positively influence leadership decisions
to assign tasks, and they also offer practical insights for practitioners.
